OpenAI wants a judge to toss out Apple's recent lawsuit, which claims OpenAI stole secret hardware info from former Apple engineers.
OpenAI argues that Apple's own security practices and offboarding procedures and unclear definitions of "trade secrets" make the case shaky, and says it doesn't even need Apple's tech since it's focused on building its own innovations.
OpenAI cites Chang Liu iCloud texts
OpenAI points out that Apple let employees use personal iCloud accounts for work and didn't cut off access when they left.
They've shared texts showing an Apple manager remaining logged into the personal iCloud account of defendant and former Apple engineer Chang Liu after he left the company to transfer files, and later asked him for help with technical questions about Apple projects.
OpenAI also claims this lawsuit is just a move by Apple to slow down their growth in AI, calling it an attempt to slow down its competitor from innovating in AI-powered hardware.
