OpenAI says Apple trade secrets lawsuit is meritless, urges dismissal

OpenAI says Apple's lawsuit accusing the startup's employees of stealing trade secrets is "meritless" and should be tossed out.
The case centers on two former Apple employees, Chang Liu and Tang Tan, who joined OpenAI.
OpenAI claims Apple is just upset about losing talent and struggling to keep up with the AI race.
Apple alleges shared secrets OpenAI disputes
Apple argues that Liu and Tan shared confidential info to help OpenAI build hardware, but OpenAI insists these were just normal hiring moves.
The tension comes after their 2024 ChatGPT-Siri partnership, especially once OpenAI started building its own hardware business and bought IO, a company co-founded by Tan.
Also, Apple didn't even specify which trade secrets were supposedly stolen, making its legal case look pretty shaky.
