Pat Gelsinger calls Nagare Labs's Z2RAM a 30 year breakthrough
Former Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger is calling Nagare Labs's new Z2RAM memory a game-changer: the industry's biggest breakthrough in 30 years.
He's excited because Z2RAM could offer DRAM-like density, SRAM-like speed and Flash-like manufacturing scalability all in one.
Z2RAM delivers over fivefold SRAM density
Z2RAM uses memory cells that can be stacked vertically and oxide semiconductors to squeeze way more memory onto chips, over five times more than regular SRAM.
That's huge for AI, since it means faster data access and better performance for things like AI accelerators.
Playground Global leads Nagare $5 million seed
Nagare Labs was started by two Georgia Tech professors and just raised $5 million in seed funding in a round led by Playground Global to turn Z2RAM into a real product.
Gelsinger is a general partner at Playground Global and also serves on Nagare's board.
