Perplexity's Comet assistant gets smarter with new user controls

Technology

Perplexity just rolled out big updates to its Comet Assistant, putting users in the driver's seat for important actions.
Now, whenever the assistant wants to do something major—like logging into your accounts or buying stuff online—you'll get a prompt to approve it first.
It's a bit like having an assistant who checks in before making big moves.

More transparency and safety features

There's also a new "assistant sidecar" that lets you see what the AI is up to in real time, so you can step in or guide things if needed.
Plus, the omnibar now gives you more say over how much control you want—manual or automatic browsing.
These changes are all about keeping your info safe and giving you more oversight as AI tools get smarter.
