PM Modi launches Skyroot's Infinity Campus and Vikram-I rocket

Technology

Prime Minister Narendra Modi just opened Skyroot Aerospace's Infinity Campus—a big new hub for India's private space sector.
He also unveiled Vikram-I, the country's first privately built orbital rocket. This marks a major boost for homegrown space tech.

What's special about Infinity Campus?

Infinity Campus covers 200,000 square feet and can roll out up to one rocket every month. It'll help Skyroot design, build, and test launch vehicles right here in India.
The Vikram-I rocket itself can carry up to 350kg to a 500km low Earth orbit at 45° inclination.

Meet Vikram-I: The private rocket game-changer

Vikram-I stands out with its all-carbon composite body and 3D-printed liquid engines in its fourth stage—making it lighter than older designs.
Skyroot aims for faster launches and more flexibility for missions with these innovations.

Why does this matter?

Vikram-I gives satellite operators a fast way to get small satellites into space.
With its modular approach, Skyroot offers quick turnarounds—competing with ISRO's SSLV and Rocket Lab's Electron—while bringing fresh energy from India's private sector into the global space race.
