Report finds social platforms overtake TV and websites for news
Technology
Big shift in how people get their news: social media and video platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook have now overtaken TV channels and news websites.
This is especially true for younger people, who are way more into watching online news videos than reading articles.
News trust lowest since 2015
The report also points out that trust in the news is at its lowest since 2015, with interest dropping too.
Around 10% of people, especially among audiences below 35 years of age, now use AI chatbots for updates.
Plus, more people are turning to content creators for news (about 27%), even though they're seen as less trustworthy than traditional outlets.
Misinformation is still a big concern, making credible sources as important as ever.
