South Asian countries launch BOB-NOR to study Bay of Bengal

India, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh just launched BOB-NOR, a new network focused on studying the Bay of Bengal's oceans and fisheries.

Announced at a big marine science meet on November 5, this project aims to blend climate and ocean data to help manage changing fish populations as our environment shifts.

Scientists use satellite and ocean data

BOB-NOR brings together local scientists plus experts from the US and Greece.

By using satellite data and tracking things like sea temperatures and monsoon patterns, they hope to better understand how fish behave and use that knowledge for smarter fisheries management.
