These brands will soon launch phones with Snapdragon 855 Plus
In a rather unexpected move, Qualcomm has launched Snapdragon 855 Plus as an improved version of its flagship mobile processor, the Snapdragon 855. And just hours after the launch, OEMs like Vivo, Realme, Nubia, and Black Shark have announced the arrival of their own high-end phones that will be powered by the new chipset. Here's all about this development.
Firstly, the Snapdragon 855 Plus is clocked at upto 2.96GHz to offer a performance boost of around 4.2% than Snapdragon 855's 2.84GHz clock rate. It also offers improved gaming performance, thanks to a 15% boost in graphics performance of the Adreno 640 GPU. Lastly, there's an integrated multi-gigabit Snapdragon X24 LTE modem and the X50 5G modem that'll enable 5G connectivity on upcoming handsets.
Notably, ASUS has announced that its upcoming gaming phone, the flagship ROG Phone 2, will be the world's first smartphone to ship with the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. The handset is set to go official in China on July 23, and is confirmed to come with a 120Hz display, an upgrade over ROG Phone's 90Hz refresh rate.
Separately, Realme took to Weibo to share Qualcomm's press release for the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. The company posted the link with words "Hello Snapdragon 855 Plus", suggesting that it is also making a flagship phone that will come with Qualcomm's new processor.
Further, Black Shark has also hinted at launching a new gaming phone that'll be powered by the Snapdragon 855 Plus chip. Moreover, Vivo and Lenovo have teased the arrival of Snapdragon 855 Plus-powered smartphone, with the latter saying that the new processor was "long-awaited".
