X now offers widgets on iOS
What's the story
X, the social media platform, has finally introduced widgets for its iOS app. The update comes more than five years after the feature was first teased at WWDC20. The new widgets can be added to both Home Screen and Lock Screen of iPhones and iPads, providing users with quick access to their favorite content directly from their device's interface.
Widget details
New widgets for home screen and lock screen
The latest update from X brings two types of widgets: one for the Home Screen and another for the Lock Screen. The Home Screen widget, dubbed "X News Highlights," provides users with a glimpse of trending headlines on the platform. It comes in three different sizes to fit user preferences. Tapping on any headline will take you directly to that topic within the app.
Additional features
Lock Screen widgets offer more options
The Lock Screen widget for X offers more customization options. It includes "X Notifications," which shows your current notification count, and "X Messages," which displays the number of unread messages in X Chat. There are also two Grok widgets, one for quick access to chat and another for voice. All four of these widgets come in larger and smaller variants, giving users a range of choices to personalize their experience on the platform.
