YouTube's new AI tools aim to boost India's creative economy

Technology

YouTube just dropped a bunch of new AI tools and partnerships at its annual Impact Summit.
The platform says it added over ₹16,000 crore to India's GDP last year and supported over 930,000 jobs.
According to YouTube India head Gunjan Soni, 63% of monetizing creators agree YouTube is their primary source of revenue.

What's new for creators?

YouTube's "Edit with AI" in the Create app can whip up video drafts—complete with music, transitions, and voice-overs—in English or Hindi.
There's also a conversational AI that lets you ask questions right inside videos (Hindi support is coming soon).
Plus, a new likeness-detection tool helps creators spot and request takedowns of unauthorized AI-altered videos using their face.

New collabs for learning

YouTube is teaming up with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) to train students in animation, VFX, gaming, comics, and extended reality—with expert workshops and project funding powered by AI.
It's also working with AIIMS College of Nursing to bring professional healthcare courses online across India.
