Zomato to share customer contacts with restaurants after consent

Technology

According to the NRAI, Zomato has agreed to start sharing your phone number with restaurants—but only if you consent.
The idea is to let eateries talk to you directly, making it easier for them to fix order issues and offer better service.
The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) considers this a significant win for the industry.

Restaurants can finally connect with their regulars

With phone numbers in hand, restaurants can now sort out delivery mix-ups or questions without going through Zomato as the middleman.
NRAI president Sagar Daryani pointed out that before this, places had no clue how often you ordered or visited, so targeted offers were tough.
Now, they'll get a clearer picture of who their regulars are—both online and offline.

Swiggy could be next

NRAI isn't stopping here—they're also talking to Swiggy about similar data-sharing deals.
If that happens, more restaurants might soon be able to connect with customers directly across different apps.
