2nd T20I, India vs Bangladesh: Records that could be scripted
The Indian cricket team will face Bangladesh in the second T20I to be held in Rajkot on Thursday. Team India went on to lose the first T20I in Delhi and is in a must-win scenario in the three-match series. There is everything to play for. Several records could be scripted in the second T20I. Here we look at the same.
Bangladesh can hand India this unwanted record
India and Bangladesh have met on nine occasions in T20Is. The Men in Blue suffered a first loss on Sunday. Team India can script their ninth victory against the Tigers in T20Is. This will be the third meeting in India between the two teams. Notably, India have never lost a three-match bilateral T20I series at home. Bangladesh can stun India and script a record.
Rohit Sharma could notch these impressive records
India's stand-in captain Rohit Sharma is all set to play his 100th T20I match. He will be only the second player to achieve this feat after Pakistan's Shoaib Malik. Rohit has 2,452 runs in T20Is and needs 48 more to become the first batsman to register 2,500 runs. He needs 72 runs to get past Suresh Raina (8,392) in terms of total T20 runs.
These Indian players could achieve special milestones
India's middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer needs 10 more runs to register the mark of 1,000 T20 runs in 2019. He will be first Indian batsman to reach this landmark this year and overall 14th batsman. Rishabh Pant needs one more catch to complete 50 catches as a wicket-keeper in T20 cricket. Yuzvendra Chahal needs three more wickets to register 50 scalps in T20Is.
Dhawan and KL Rahul can reach these landmarks
Shikhar Dhawan (1,454 runs) needs 46 more to register the mark of 1,500 runs in T20Is. The southpaw will become the fifth Indian to achieve this milestone. KL Rahul (914) needs 86 runs to reach 1,000 T20I runs. He will become the seventh Indian to reach this landmark. Rohit needs two more catches to surpass Virat Kohli (36) and be the second-most successful Indian.
Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah on cusp of scripting huge T20I record
Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah (48) is just two sixes away from completing a half-century of maximums in T20Is. He will become the first Bangladeshi cricketer to achieve this feat. Mushfiqur Rahim (31 sixes) needs three more to get past Shakib Al Hasan (33) in terms of career T20I sixes. Rahim will move up to third in this list of Bangladeshi cricketers.
