Pat Cummins dismisses calls to make him Australia captain
Australian cricket team fast bowler Pat Cummins has gone on to dismiss calls to make him the future captain of the Test side. The 25-year-old pacer called suggestions of him captaining the Test team 'ridiculous'. Cummins, who was Australia's best player in the recently concluded third Test match in Melbourne, has backed skipper Tim Paine to lead the team for a long time.
Cummins was top notch at the MCG
Cummins was sensational for Australia at the MCG. He took a total of nine wickets and scored a gritty 63 in the second innings. Cummins also registered his best bowling figures in a Test innings (6/27). The fast bowler ended 2018 as the second highest Aussie wicket-taker in Test cricket (44). Legend Shane Warne backed Cummins as a future Test skipper.

I think it's pretty ridiculous at the moment: Cummins
Cummins told cricket.com.au, "I think it's pretty ridiculous at the moment. We've obviously got Painey at the moment who is doing a brilliant job and I think it's his for a long time now." Paine was handed leadership duties in 2018 after former captain Steve Smith and his deputy David Warner were banned for 12 months by Cricket Australia.
Cummins will look to be effective in Sydney
Cummins will go into the final Test in Sydney with a lot of confidence. He has been in terrific form and has led the way for the Aussies. He performed well at the SCG last year. Cummins picked up 8/119 against England in the 2017-18 Ashes. He is currently ranked number three in the ICC Test Rankings for bowlers.
