Bangladesh include spinner Nasum Ahmed for West Indies ODIs
What's the story
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the inclusion of left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed in the ODI squad for the remaining series against West Indies. The 30-year-old cricketer last played an ODI in December 2024. He has taken 16 wickets from 18 games at an economy rate of 4.48 in his career so far. Notably, Bangladesh beat WI by 74 runs in the 1st of the three-match ODI series in Dhaka.
Strategic move
Spinners shine in series opener
Nasum Ahmed's addition to the squad comes after a strong showing from spinners on both sides in the series opener. The match was played on a slow surface at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. West Indies' left-arm spinner Khary Pierre and off-spinner Roston Chase both impressed with their bowling, while Bangladesh spinner Rishad Hossain took a record six-wicket haul.
Series update
Bangladesh lead series 1-0
Following their victory in the first match, Bangladesh now lead the three-match ODI series against West Indies 1-0. The second and third ODIs are scheduled to be played on October 21 and 23 at the same venue. The addition of Nasum is likely to strengthen Bangladesh's spin attack in these upcoming matches.
