IPL 2019: Which teams can win the IPL trophy?

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 will see the venues and dates being finalized, once the schedule of Indian General Elections is announced. Over the years in the cash-rich league, a few teams have dominated the proceedings. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have won the title on three occasions. But which teams are favorites to clinch the next edition? Here we decode.

Will venue play a big part?

The IPL 2019 could be held abroad with South Africa being the likely venue. This would happen due to the upcoming elections. As a result, teams with a solid all-round base would do well. Further, the experience of players, who have played outside the subcontinent, could prove to be a pivotal factor. We have picked two sides that have a shot at the title.

Chennai Super Kings could dictate the show

Skipper MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings to glory in 2018. This time as well, MSD will play a crucial role in guiding them. CSK have a talented pool of all-rounders, who can make their presence felt irrespective of where the league is held. The side boasts of several match-winners. Their versatility is off the charts. CSK might be able to defend the title.

CSK have a well balanced side with superstars

The experience of the side will come in play. Stars like Suresh Raina, Dwayne Bravo, Shane Watson and Imran Tahir are seasoned T20 names. Players like Kedar Jadhav and Ambati Rayudu bring immense balance. The bowling of CSK looks strong and composed. The fast bowling unit has what it takes to make an impact. The spin options are strong.

Sunrisers Hyderabad can go the distance

After CSK, if there is any other team that could go the distance, it has to be Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Orange Army reached the final of the 2018 edition. They have a settled side and plenty of strong names all around. In David Warner, SRH have a leader, who will want to prove a point. In Kane Williamson, they have a genuine match-winner.

Why SRH can win the IPL 12 trophy?

If one thing that sets SRH apart from other teams, it has to be their bowling. They have quality written all over and there is a big pool to choose from. The likes of Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar represent sheer class. The batting has the depth required and the all-round department looks confident. SRH's consistency could help them dictate the show.

KKR, DC could come close as well

Two other teams that could come close in 2019 are Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals. KKR proved everyone wrong last season. Under Dinesh Karthik, the young eastern giants could be the dark horse. DC have a power-packed line-up and hunger to win.
