What's the story

The Indian cricket team is in position of bother on Day 1 of the second Test versus Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. India lost Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma to be reduced to 29/2 at one stage. The likes of Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli and resurrected India's innings. Vihari departed too with Kohli following suit thereafter. India are 93/4.

India lose two wickets early on

India lost Mayank early on. He scored four runs before being trapped LBW. The ball shaped in and Mayank was caught at the crease as it hit his pads. Rohit departed next after lunging into a forward defence as the ball took an outside edge. A sharp catch was taken at gully. There was enough assistance for the spinner here.

Vihari and Kohli respond with a 47-run stand

India showed fight as Vihari and Kohli got together to forge a stand. The important thing was that the two maintained a decent run rate. Both players played some good shots for fours and kept the scorecard ticking along. In the 23rd over, Vihari was given out LBW but he survived after a DRS call. However, moments later Vihari departed for 31.

Praveen Jayawickrama got the key wicket of Vihari at a crucial juncture. It was a lovely delivery and the latter couldn't do anything, gaining an edge. Niroshan Dickwella took the catch. Meanwhile, Kohli (23) was dismissed from a lovely delivery to leave India at 86/4.
