Niroshan Dickwella is a professional cricket player from Sri Lanka who plays all formats of the game. He also plays as a wicket-keeper for the Sri Lankan team. He is well known for his unorthodox shots, aggressive batting, and for hitting left-handed Dilscoops. Dickwella has played 45 Test matches and 53 ODIs in his cricket career. In 2014, he made his Test debut for Sri Lanka against South Africa where he scored 72 runs. In November 2014, he made his ODI debut against India where he scored just four runs. His Twenty20 International debut against India came in February 2016. During the 2016-17 South African tour, Dickwella was appreciated for his performance. He was also named as the emerging cricketer of the year at Sri Lanka cricket’s annual awards 2016-2017. In his fourth ODI series against South Africa, Dickwella had to pay a fine for engaging in a verbal spat with Kagiso Rabada. During the second T20I against Australia, he was banned for two limited-overs matches for breaching the Code of Conduct. In 2012, he received the title of Sri Lanka’s Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year.
