What's the story

A couple of strikes by all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has left England in disarray in the morning session on Day 4 of the ongoing second Test.

Ashwin struck on his very first delivery on Day 4 as England attempt to chase 482.

Later on, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav too perturbed the English batsmen.

Here is a look at the session report.

Session

How did the session pan out?

England resumed from their overnight score of 53/3 as skipper Joe Root and top-order batsman Daniel Lawrence arrived in the middle.

Ashwin gave India back-to-back breakthroughs in the form of Lawrence and star all-rounder Ben Stokes.

Axar and Kuldeep were successful as England lost two more wickets in the session.

Eventually, England mustered 116/7 at lunch.

Ashwin

Ashwin dismisses Stokes once again

Ashwin is certainly having a dream Test on his home ground.

After registering a five-for and a historic century previously, the 34-year-old has already taken three wickets in the second innings.

Interestingly, he has now dismissed Stokes joint-most times (10) in Test cricket along with David Warner.

Ashwin also got rid of the former in the first innings.

Do you know?

Ashwin has dismissed Stokes 14 times in international cricket

The premier England all-rounder, Stokes, has now fallen to Ashwin as many as 14 times in international cricket. This is seven more than Kagiso Rabada, who has dismissed Stokes seven times. Meanwhile, Australia's Nathan Lyon has six dismissals against Stokes.

Axar

Axar Patel has also been impressive

Along with Ashwin, off-spinner Axar Patel has also been impressive in the Test so far.

He has taken three wickets in the second innings, having dismissed Dominic Sibley and Jack Leach yesterday.

In the first session on Day 4, he sent back middle-order batsman Ollie Pope in his second spell.

He has an opportunity to complete his maiden five-wicket haul.
