England eves to face India in a crunch limited-overs series
The England women's cricket team will visit India in the period of February-March, 2019 for three ODI and T20I series respectively. This is the second time in the last one year that the England team is playing a series in India. The ODI world champions had ousted India in the semis of the ICC Women's World T20 last year in Guyana.
Indian eves will be keen to break English ascendancy
England have been the menace for India in world tourneys in recent times. The English eves had beaten India in the final of the Women's World Cup in 2017. And then last year, the side reached the final after a convincing win in the T20 semis. India will be seeking to give a better account of themselves in both the series at home.
Venue and key dates to note down
The ODI matches are set to played in Mumbai on February 22, 25 and 28 respectively. Meanwhile, the T20Is will be held in Guwahati from March 9 onwards. The ODI series in particular will be a testing affair with the points earned from the matches will be added to the ICC Women's Championship in the second cycle.
The last time when England eves had toured India
England last toured India in March 2018 for a T20I tri-series that was held in Mumbai. The team lost to Australia in the finale. England then played against India in a three-match ODI series. Indian eves managed to win the same by a 2-1 margin. Mithali Raj's side will be keen to repeat a similar feat.
Indian eves depart for New Zealand
Meanwhile, the Indian women's team has departed for its tour of New Zealand for the first time in 12 years. Veteran Mithali Raj is set to complete the feat of 200 ODIs during the tour. She highlighted the importance of earning a direct entry into the 2020-21 World Cup. The two teams will start their ODI battle from January 24 onwards.
