The Royal Challengers Bangalore thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders in match number nine of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season on Sunday. Batting first, RCB rode on two breezy fifties from Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers to post a massive score of 204/4. In reply, KKR (166/8) kept losing wickets at regular intervals to lose the match. He brought up his eighth IPL fifty and a second versus KKR. He also went past 400 runs against the Knights (417), besides registering his highest score as well.

AB de Villiers hit a 34-ball 76*. The veteran cricketer racked up nine fours and three sixes. The RCB supremo has 4,974 runs in the IPL at 40.77. He hit his 39th IPL fifty and a fourth against KKR. ABD also notched his best score against the Knights. He became the seventh batsman in IPL history to get past 500 runs against KKR (511).

RCB notched the 10th-highest team total against KKR in the IPL (204/4). This was their third total of 200-plus against KKR in the competition. This was the 20th time RCB hit 200-plus runs in the IPL. They are the first team to do so. This was the fourth successive loss for KKR against RCB in the IPL.
