Kyle Jamieson drafted in New Zealand's squad for Australia ODIs

Fast bowler Kyle Jamieson was named in New Zealand's 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against Australia. The young seamer was recently handed his Test debut in the series against India after he shone in the white-ball leg. Pace spearhead Tim Southee, who hasn't been at his best in the ODI format, was able to save his spot in the squad. Here's more.

New Zealand's 15-member squad for the ODI series

New Zealand's 15-member squad: Kane Williamson (captain), Tom Blundell, Trent Boult, Colin de Grandhomme, Lockie Ferguson, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Jimmy Neesham, Henry Nicholls, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor.

Boult, Henry and Ferguson are back in the mix

The impending series will also see the return of Trent Boult, Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson in the line-up. The trio hasn't played ODI cricket since the final of World Cup 2019 and wasn't a part of the ODI squad that featured against India due to injuries. Ferguson was New Zealand's highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 21 wickets.

Jamieson justified his selection against India

Kyle Jamieson was terrific against India in his debut bilateral series. Following a spectacular ODI series, the 25-year-old earned his maiden Test call up in the Test series. He tested the Indian top order throughout the Test series, especially Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara. Jamieson scalped a four-for in the first Test and followed it up with a five-wicket haul in the second.

The three-match series will commence on March 13

New Zealand were cleaned up 0-3 in their last Test series against Australia. However, New Zealand clinched the last bilateral ODI series (2-0) between the two nations. Nonetheless, the Williamson-led side will tour Australia for three ODIs. The first two ODIs will be played in Sydney on March 13 and 15 respectively, while Hobart will host the third on March 20.

New Zealand would like to reverse this record in Australia

Interestingly, New Zealand have never won a bilateral ODI series in Australia in the 21st century. They have drawn two and lost as many ever since. Overall, they have won four and lost eight out of the 14 matches played on the Australian soil.
