Krishnappa Gowtham: News

A right-arm off-spinner and a right-handed batsman, Krishnappa Gowtham is an Indian cricketer who plays first-class cricket for Karnataka. He began his domestic career by playing for Karnataka in aT20 against Goa in 2011. His explosiveness as a lower-order batting made him a perfect fit for T20 cricket. In 2012, he played his first match for Karnataka in Ranji Trophy. Gowtham was unable to make an impact in first-class cricket and was soon dropped. He, however, returned to the team for the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy. The tweaks Gowtham performed on his bowling action paid dividends as he was able to pick up 27 wickets in the eight matches he played. Gowtham made his List A debut in 2017. He made his IPL debut in the 2018 edition for Rajasthan Royals. Gowtham's impressive performances in the domestic circuit and the IPL did not go unnoticed as he was selected as a net bowler for India's Test series against England in 2021. In the same year, he became the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history. His international debut followed suit when he played in an ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
