Women cricketers Hayley Jensen and Nicola Hancock are now married

Two women cricketers from Australia and New Zealand have gotten married in a ceremony last weekend, and the pictures from their wedding have gone viral on social media. New Zealand all-rounder Hayley Jensen (26) tied the knot with her long-time partner, uncapped Australian pacer, Nicola Hancock (23). Hancock has since taken her wife's last name. Read on for more details.

The wedding was announced by Melbourne Stars on Twitter

Melbourne Stars announced the wedding on Twitter along with a picture from the ceremony and the caption: "From #TeamGreen, congratulations to Stars bowler Nicola Hancock who married her partner Hayley Jensen last weekend!" The two formerly played together for the Melbourne Stars for the first two editions of the women's Big Bash League before Jensen moved to rival Melbourne Renegades for the third edition.

'Wedding was filled with lots of laughter, joy and love'

Describing the wedding, Hancock wrote in a post on Instagram, "The day was filled with lots of laughter, joy and of course love." She added, "I would like to thank everyone for making the day what it was. We love all of our family and friends and am so grateful to have you all in our lives. Here's to our next chapter."

Jensen-Hancock third contemporary women cricketers' pair to get married

The couple has become the third pair of contemporary women cricketers to have tied the knot after South Africa women's cricket team captain Dane van Niekerk married teammate Marizanne Kapp last year; and New Zealand pair of Amy Satterthwaite and Lea Tahuhu's wedding in March 2017. Same-sex marriage has been legal since April 2013 in New Zealand and December 2017 in Australia.
