    What's the story

    Prithvi Shaw, the out-of-favor batter from the Indian cricket team, has once again proven his batting prowess.

    He scored a brilliant 76 for Mumbai in the ongoing Irani Cup match against Rest of India (ROI) in Lucknow.

    Opening the innings for the reigning Ranji Trophy champions, Shaw completed his fifty off just 37 balls.

    Notably, he could manage just four runs in Mumbai's first innings.

    Shaw's performance boosts Mumbai's 2nd innings

    In response to Mumbai's first-innings total of 537 runs, ROI managed a respectable 416 runs, largely due to Abhimanyu Easwaran's impressive 191-run knock.

    However, it was Shaw who stole the show in Mumbai's second innings with his aggressive batting style.

    He dominated ROI's bowling attack with his powerful stroke play.

    Shaw slowed down a bit after completing his fifty amid the fall of wickets from the other end.

    Shaw's half-century propels Mumbai to a commanding position

    Shaw reached his half-century during the 12th over of Mumbai's second innings, off a good length delivery from Saransh Jain.

    His performance helped Mumbai reach 85/2 before the tea break on day four, securing a lead of 206 runs.

    Shaw continued to hold one end despite the quick departures of Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer.

    He eventually fell to Saransh Jain.

    Shaw closing in on 4,500 FC runs 

    Shaw was dismissed for 76 off 105 balls as he smoked eight boundaries besides a six.

    With this knock, he has raced to 4,497 runs in FC cricket across 56 matches, averaging 46-plus.

    While the 24-year-old hammered his 18th FC fifty, the tally also includes 13 tons.

    Notably, Shaw didn't find a place in any of the Duleep Trophy squads.

    Tests 

    Century on Test debut for Shaw 

    Shaw made his international debut in a Test match against West Indies at home in 2018.

    He made the opportunity count, scoring 134 in his maiden innings.

    The youngster has so far amassed 339 Test runs in five matches, averaging 42.37.

    He last played a Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21.

    Meanwhile, Shaw has also featured in six ODIs, besides a solitary T20I.
