Lando Norris made history on Sunday at the 2025 Formula 1 season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Despite finishing third, the Briton claimed his maiden championship title. "It's incredible. It's pretty surreal. I've dreamed about this for a long, long time. Everyone does," said Norris on the podium. "A lot goes into a season like this. A lot of ups. A lot of downs, but none of that matters as long as you come out on top. That's what we managed to do. I did it with an incredible team."

"I'm proud. I've got my whole family, my girlfriend, a lot of people here. I would hate to embarrass them on a day like today. My mum and dad let me share this dream and today I got to share it with them," he said.

Norris on chasing this dream of winning F1 title
Norris said it has been a long time since he was chasing this dream. And he is pretty happy after finally achieving it. "It's not just this year or the last seven or eight years I've been with McLaren, but the last 16 or 17 years of my life trying to chase this dream. Today we all did it, so I'm pretty happy."

Norris reflects on his 2025 season
Norris reflected on his performance this year. "My best performances this year came when I needed them the most. When I was on the back foot is when I did my best and showed the most of me. I managed to get the gap I needed to perform and do what I needed to do today," the Briton told Jenson Button on the podium.

From 24 races in the F1 2025 season, Norris ended up taking 17 podium finishes. He finished above Norris (16) and Verstappen (15) in terms of podiums this year. Norris also won 7 races this season. It was the joint 2nd-highest race wins alongside teammate Piastri after Verstappen's 8. Norris finished the F1 2025 season with a tally of 423 points, two above Verstappen.
