This marks a huge achievement for Rohit, who led India to their second T20 World Cup title, in 2024.

Oldest captain to win T20 World Cup
Rohit, who led India to their historic 2024 campaign, became the first Indian to win multiple T20 World Cup titles. He won his first with the MS Dhoni-led side in 2007. At 37 years and 60 days, Rohit became the oldest captain to win a T20 World Cup title. According to ESPNcricinfo, he is also the second-oldest captain to win an ICC tournament final.

Rohit's legacy in T20I cricket
Rohit has the distinction of featuring in every T20 World Cup edition, starting from the inaugural (2007), which India won. And as fate would have it, he retired from T20I cricket after powering India to the title in 2024. Rohit bowed out with a record 4,231 runs from 159 T20Is at 32.05 (SR: 140.89). He owns a record five tons and 205 sixes.

About 2026 T20 World Cup
India and Sri Lanka will jointly host the 2026 T20 World Cup between February 7 and March 8. Eight key venues have been designated for the same. The tournament will follow the same format as the previous edition in 2024, with 20 teams divided into four groups of five. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eight.
