What's the story

Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has moved to the number two spot in the ICC ODI Rankings for Batters. Rohit, who had a brilliant three-match series versus Sri Lanka recently, displaced fellow Indian teammate Shubman Gill. Rohit is now only behind Pakistan cricket team skipper Babar Azam, who occupies the top spot. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka moved to eighth. Here's more.

Rohit was amongst the runs in the series versus SL

Although India suffered a 0-2 defeat in the recent three-ODI series against Sri Lanka, Indian skipper Rohit was in top form. He scored 58 in the opener and backed it up with 64 in the second game. He made 35 in the decider as no other Indian could manage a half-century in the series. Rohit has 765 rating points at the time being.

Babar leads the show; Nissanka goes 8th

Babar tops the ODI Rankings for Batters with 824 rating points. Meanwhile, Gill, who had an ordinary series against the Lankans, is third with 763 points. Fellow Indian batter Virat Kohli stays unmoved at 4th. Ireland's Harry Tector gained one berth to be joint-fourth with 746 rating points. Nissanka has moved to eighth and owns 708 rating points.

Maharaj gains big in ICC Test Rankings for Bowlers

South Africa's Keshav Maharaj, who claimed four wickets in each innings against West Indies in the just concluded first Test, improved seven spots to rise to equal 21st in the ICC Test Rankings for Bowlers. Spinner Jomel Warrican rose 12 spots to 54th and gains a new career-best rating following his six scalps. He also completed 50 Test wickets during the contest.

Bavuma owns a career-high rating in Tests

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma has improved to a career-high rating. He moved two places to 16th in the ICC Test Rankings for Batters following scores of 86 and 15* against the Windies side.
