Top guns at Wimbledon 2018 safely progressed into the quarter-finals after winning their respective matches. There were victories for the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams as we approach the final stages of the year's third major Grand Slam. Center Court saw all three stars playing to their strengths. Here is more on the results.

    Defender Federer in cruise mode

Defending champion Roger Federer overpowered France's Adrian Mannarino to reach the quarters. The 36-year-old sealed the tie 6-0, 7-5, 6-4, as he bagged 32nd successive set in the event. Federer will be up against Kevin Anderson next. The Swiss maestro is eyeing a ninth singles Wimbledon title, which will see him equal the record of former legendary women's player Martina Navratilova.

Wins for Nadal, Djokovic in round of 16

World number one Rafael Nadal moved to the quarter-finals along with 12-time Slam winner Novak Djokovic. This would be Rafa's first quarters since 2011 at the Wimbledon. He won his match 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 against Czech Jiri Vesely. He could face either Juan Martin del Potro or Gilles Simon next. Novak beat Karen Khachanov 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 in a comfortable manner.

Other crucial results in men's singles

Ninth seed John Isner beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 to set up a last eight battle against Milos Raonic. The 13th seed Raonic overcame Mackenzie McDonald in four sets 6-3, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2. Kei Nishikori will face Djokovic next after beating Ernests Gulbis.

Serena surges ahead after win over Rodina

Serena Williams reached the Wimbledon quarters after beating Russian qualifier Evgeniya Rodina. Serena thrived in a 6-2, 6-2 victory. The 36-year-old will take on Italian world number 52 Camila Giorgi next. Williams delivered 30 winners to show her dominance. Meanwhile, 7th seed Karolina Pliskova was defeated by Kiki Bertens as none of the women's singles top 10 seeds will be at the quarters.
