ICC World Cup: Finch comfortable to bat anywhere for Australia
Australian ODI cricket team captain Aaron Finch is ready to demote himself and bat anywhere for the side if the need arises. Finch, who hasn't been in the best of form, could see his position change when the likes of David Warner and Steve Smith return for Australia. These two are expected to be part of Australia's ICC World Cup 2019 squad.
Finch opens up on batting position
Finch hasn't been in top form since a while now and is averaging 22.87 this year in ODIs. "If that means me batting at six, I'll comfortably do that. If it's at the top, three or four - it doesn't matter," Finch said to cricket.com.au.
World Cup: Warner and Khawaja could open for Australia
In eight ODI innings this year, Finch has managed a solitary score of 50-plus. Finch has amassed 183 in total that include two ducks. Interestingly, all the ODI matches were against India. Usman Khawaja has batted well atop and once Warner comes in, he will likely take up the other opening slot. Meanwhile, Smith will be backed to play at number three position.
I still feel really good with my game: Finch
Finch feels his rhythm is still there. He added, "I still feel really good with my game...my rhythm is there. There's probably been some times where you start doubting your technique. For me, it's about going back to what's worked for me in the past."
Australia to play Pakistan in five-match ODI series
Australia will be up against Pakistan in a five-match ODI series next. This is a huge opportunity for the Australian skipper to regain his form. Australia have found some much needed confidence after beating India in the ODI series earlier this month. Finch led the side well as they scripted a spirited comeback. He will draw heart from his leadership attributes.
When and where to watch the first ODI?
Pakistan and Australia will lock horns in the first ODI on Friday. The match will be telecast live on the Sony Ten Network. One can stream the match live on the Sony LIV app as well. The match will start at 4:30 PM IST.
