Cyberattack on refrigeration hits French blood establishment and European supermarkets
Hackers hit the French Blood Establishment (EFS) on November 2, messing with the cold storage at three locations and putting blood supplies at risk.
Luckily, EFS acted fast. Thanks to its monitoring systems, no blood samples were lost.
This isn't an isolated thing; it's part of a bigger wave of cyberattacks targeting refrigeration systems in Europe.
European supermarkets hacked, fridges set 122°F
On the same day, hackers also targeted supermarkets across Europe by cranking up fridge temperatures to 122 degrees Fahrenheit, which spoiled food.
Just two weeks earlier, big chains like Carrefour in France faced similar attacks that led to major losses and even fires.
Officials say they're keeping things under control, but these incidents show how vulnerable our essential infrastructure can be when hackers find a way in.
