What's the story

Three years ago, Indian-American prodigy Tanishq Abraham graduated from a California college when he was just 11, and made headlines globally. Recently, he crossed another milestone: at 15, he has earned a biomedical engineering degree from the University of California, Davis, graduating summa cum laude. His immediate goal is an MD, but eventually, he hopes to become the president of the US!

Academics

While we learnt alphabets, Tanishq won academic laurels

Tanishq was born in Sacramento, California, in June 2003. His parents Bijou Abraham, a software engineer, and mother Taji Abraham, a veterinarian, had migrated from Kerala. His gifts showed by the time he was two, when he displayed an amazing knack of remembering information. At four, he became a member of the exclusive Mensa. At five, he completed a math course offered by Stanford University.

Extracurricular

Tanishq has been dominating outside of studies too

On one hand, academic achievements kept piling up, much earlier than normal. But he ruled extracurricular affairs too: at nine, he became the founder-president of his college's astronomy club. The same year, he delivered a TED talk and spoke at NASA! At 10, he was elected Vice-President of Communications at Phi Theta Kappa. Tanishq also plays chess, swimming, and the piano as well.

Graduation

On Father's Day, Tanishq completed one chapter of his life

This year has been especially hard for Tanishq, says his mother Taji. She said they have ensured he gets adequate rest, but "in his senior year, he's been sleeping just 3-4 hours." He's had busy days even after receiving his degree last month: afterwards, he presented his senior design project, attended a biomedical engineering conference and a three-day crash course at UCD Entrepreneurship Academy.

Goals

Next goal: MD. Eventual goal: President of the US

Taji dismisses claims that they are pushing Tanishq and his sister Tiara, also gifted, too much. "What's normal for some might not be normal for others," she said regarding the pressure on them. They enjoy themselves sufficiently with games and movies, she added. "They pretty much know the entire IMDB!" Tanishq will now undergo an MD at UC Davis. Someday, he hopes to be president.
