Bajaj Auto is developing electric versions of Pulsar, Boxer motorcycles
Bajaj Auto is working on electric versions of its popular Pulsar and Boxer motorcycles.
Rajiv Bajaj, the company's Managing Director, confirmed that Bajaj is developing electric versions of both a commuter-friendly Boxer and a sportier Pulsar.
This marks Bajaj's big step beyond just e-scooters and three-wheelers.
Bajaj to use existing tech platform for e-bikes
After making waves with its Chetak electric scooter, Bajaj wants to tap into India's growing (but still tiny) electric motorcycle scene—right now, e-bikes make up only about 1% of all two-wheeler sales.
The plan? Use their own tech platform that can support different types of bikes as the market grows.
Current e-bike market and potential challenges for Bajaj
Startups like Revolt and Ola currently lead the e-motorcycle game, while big names mostly watch from the sidelines.
With strong brand power and exports to over 70 countries, Bajaj could really shake things up—but they'll have to outpace other giants like Royal Enfield and Hero MotoCorp who are also eyeing this space.
