France cracks down on Tesla's misleading autonomy claims
France has told Tesla to quit advertising its cars as fully self-driving, saying the claims are misleading.
After an investigation, officials found that Tesla's Autopilot and paid upgrades still need drivers to pay attention—so they don't count as truly autonomous.
Basically, you can't just sit back and let the car do everything for you.
Tesla now has 4 months to fix these problems
On top of that, Tesla is facing heat for breaking some sales rules—like missing delivery details and asking buyers for payments too soon.
France says Tesla also hasn't been clear about refunds or which features are actually available.
The company now has four months to fix these problems or risk a hefty €50,000 fine every day.
It's another bump in the road as regulators in Europe and the US keep a close eye on how safe Tesla's tech really is.
