General Motors recalls 62K vehicles due to fire risk
GM is recalling over 62,000 Chevrolet Silverado Medium Duty trucks (models 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD from 2019-2024) because of a brake sensor defect that could cause fires—even when the truck's parked.
The problem? Brake fluid might leak into the pressure switch, leading to an electrical short and possible underhood fire.
TL;DR
Dealers will replace the faulty wiring
GM says to park these trucks outside and away from buildings until they're fixed.
Starting July 28, owners will get notified about free repairs—dealers will swap out the faulty wiring.
Only about 1% of trucks are expected to have this issue, but GM's playing it safe after getting around 160 reports (with just one possible fire).
No injuries or crashes so far—just a heads up for safety.
