Tesla's robotaxi driver caught napping on the job—3 times in 1 ride
A Tesla Robotaxi safety driver in San Francisco was filmed dozing off at the wheel not once, but three times during a single trip this November.
The car's alert system had to wake him up each time, and even after the passenger reported it with video proof, Tesla stayed silent.
Another rider on the same route said the driver was asleep for most of their morning ride too.
Why does this matter?
This isn't just a one-off: since launching in summer 2025, Tesla's Robotaxis have already had numerous crashes even though there are supposed to be supervisors in every car.
Plus, Tesla doesn't have full approval to run these taxis in California yet and is facing lawsuits over its self-driving claims.
