Toyota partners with Ohmium for green hydrogen solutions

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) and Ohmium International are joining forces to build green hydrogen-powered microgrids for India.
The goal? Make clean energy more accessible, especially in remote and industrial areas.
This project supports India's push for energy independence by 2047 and net-zero emissions by 2070.

TL;DR

How the collaboration will work

TKM will contribute its fuel cell tech and system know-how, while Ohmium is handling the design of PEM electrolyzers—devices that use renewable energy to turn water into hydrogen.
Together, they'll test a microgrid prototype in real-world settings, aiming for reliable stationary power beyond just vehicles.

What is PEM technology?

PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) technology lets us make hydrogen without emissions, using only water and renewable electricity.
It's scalable, cost-effective, and already proven in Toyota's Mirai car—now it's being adapted for powering buildings and communities.

The road ahead

This partnership isn't just about cool tech—it could help India advance in the global green hydrogen race.
By building flexible microgrids, TKM and Ohmium are working toward cleaner air, better energy access, and a future less dependent on fossil fuels.
