Delivery robots face vandalism from UC Berkeley to Sheffield, England
Business
Delivery robots are popping up everywhere, but not everyone's a fan.
When Kiwibot rolled out at UC Berkeley in 2020, CEO Felipe Chavez shared they faced about 1,600 vandalism incidents.
More recently, two Uber Eats robots were spray-painted in Sheffield, England, so much so that Starship Technologies had to call in local police.
Videos show robots pushed and defaced
It's not just a local thing: videos from Philadelphia to Leeds show people pushing robots into bushes or defacing them.
As these bots become more common for food delivery, some folks worry about vandalism and resistance.
Even with all this pushback, companies like Kiwibot and Starship are still involved in robot deliveries.
