Musk is now richer than Ambani and Adani combined!
What's the story
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has left India's richest men Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani far behind in terms of wealth. According to Forbes's real-time billionaire rankings on December 21, 2025, Musk's net worth is a staggering $749 billion. This makes him the world's richest man by a huge margin. To put this in perspective, Ambani ($113.7 billion) and Adani's ($66.7 billion) combined net worth is around $180 billion, less than one-fourth of Musk's fortune.
Business empire
Musk's wealth largely comes from Tesla
Musk's massive fortune is mainly due to his stakes in a number of businesses. He owns nearly 12% of Tesla, the electric vehicle maker he has been leading as CEO since 2008.
Strategic moves
SpaceX and X boost Musk's fortune
Another major contributor to Musk's wealth is SpaceX, his private rocket company founded in 2002. After a tender offer in December, the company was valued at around $800 billion with Musk owning an estimated 42% stake. His influence also extends into artificial intelligence and social media after he acquired Twitter for $44 billion in 2022 and merged it with his AI venture xAI. The combined entity was valued at about $125 billion including debt.
Business pursuits
Ambani and Adani's business ventures
Ambani continues to lead Reliance Industries, a $125 billion revenue conglomerate with interests in energy, telecom, retail, and media. His telecom venture Jio has more than 500 million subscribers and is expected to go public in 2026. Meanwhile, Adani heads a massive infrastructure-focused group with interests in ports, airports, and power. Despite their impressive business empires, Ambani and Adani's combined wealth still pales in comparison to Musk's staggering fortune.
