Reliance launches Waggies: Affordable pet food for India

Business

Reliance Consumer Products (RCPL) is set to launch Waggies, a new pet food brand that's 20-50% cheaper than big names like Nestle and Mars.
The focus? Making quality pet food more budget-friendly, especially in tier-2 cities and smaller towns.

Targeting India's growing pet scene

India's pet care market is booming—worth $3.5 billion in 2024 and expected to double by 2028 as more people get pets.
RCPL wants its entire consumer portfolio to reach around 600 million consumers nationwide by March 2027, while also supporting local retailers.

Shaking up the competition

Waggies is set to stir things up for established brands like Pedigree, Purina, Royal Canin, and rising startups.
With its low prices and wide reach, Reliance hopes to grab a big slice of the action as pet ownership rises and consumers look for better options for their pets.

Making good pet care accessible

While premium brands are getting popular, Waggies aims to make decent-quality pet food affordable for everyone—not just city folks or those willing to splurge—reflecting how quickly preferences are changing across India.
