US questions ASML over alleged EUV machine transfer to China
Business
The US is raising eyebrows over reports that a super-advanced chipmaking machine from Dutch tech giant ASML might have ended up in China, possibly in violation of U.S.-led export restrictions.
US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick brought this up with senior ASML leaders as part of the US push to keep cutting-edge semiconductor technology out of China's hands.
ASML denies EUV exports to China
ASML strongly denies sending any of its prized extreme ultraviolet (EUV) machines (or even EUV parts) to China, pointing out these machines are rare and need constant care from ASML's own team.
Meanwhile, Chinese scientists are working on building their own version with help from former ASML engineers, showing just how much China wants to rely less on foreign technology.
