Why SCIL's shares fell 8.5% today

Business

Shipping Corporation of India (SCIL) saw its shares drop 8.5% on Monday after posting some underwhelming results for the September quarter.
The company's revenue and profits both slipped, which may have contributed to the decline in share value.

Revenue and profit declines for SCIL

SCIL's revenue dropped 7.7% to ₹1,338.8 crore, and net profit fell a hefty 35% to ₹189 crore compared to last year. Major business segments like liner, bulk, and tanker all saw declines too.
On the bright side, SCIL still has a strong cash reserve of ₹1,875 crore and just added two big gas carriers—Sahyadri and Shivalik—to boost its energy transport game between the Persian Gulf and India.
