Aamir-Sunny's 'Lahore 1947' now titled 'Batwara 1947'?
What's the story
The title of Rajkumar Santoshi's upcoming film, Lahore 1947, has been changed to Batwara 1947, as reported by journalist Vickey Lalwani. The decision was apparently made to avoid political sensitivities between India and Pakistan. However, producer Aamir Khan denied the report through a brief statement to Lalwani, stating, "This is not true." The film stars Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta in the lead roles. It is set for release on August 13, 2026.

Speculations about the title change
Lalwani added that Santoshi couldn't be reached for confirmation. Notably, earlier in February, Bollywood Hungama reported that the makers were looking for a "better title that's apt for the story." Per Lalwani's recent report, "The film will not go with the original title because the makers fear that the word Lahore may cause trouble to them, considering the uneasy friction that prevails between India and Pakistan today." The makers haven't officially announced any new title yet.
