H Vinoth-Boney Kapoor announce 'AK 61,' share Ajith Kumar's look
Producer Boney Kapoor and director H Vinoth have officially announced their next collaboration, AK 61. Tamil star Ajith Kumar (AK) will be the lead actor in this venture, and it will be the third collaboration of the trio. Their announcement post had a monochrome photograph of AK, where the actor was seen sporting white beard and hair. A pair of spectacles completed the look.
- AK, Vinoth and Kapoor's first collaboration was Nerkonda Paarvai. Following its massive success, they teamed up again for Valimai.
- The action thriller is posed for a February 24 release.
- Given that Valimai is AK's first theatrical release in three years, his humongous fan base is eagerly waiting for it.
- Assuming it will be a blockbuster, too, this third-time collaboration is great news for cinephiles.
Going by the announcement photo, it seems AK will play a grey character in AK 61 and hence the tint. He has played villainous roles in films like Mankatha and Vaalee with ease. Since it has been a while we saw him donning the baddie hat, this announcement is pretty exciting. Let's wait till the makers come up with more updates regarding this venture.
Meanwhile, Kapoor captioned the photo as, "Prep mode on #AK61," indicating the team has started the groundwork. Hearsay has that plot and screenplay have been finalized and massive sets are being constructed in Chennai and Hyderabad. The shooting schedule will be kick-started next month and the film is eyeing a Diwali release this year. Notably, Kapoor had told media of this venture last September.
Their upcoming cop drama Valimai is finally slated to release next Thursday, after facing several release delays. It has AK as Arjun Kumar, a tough police officer, looking to bust a gang of criminal bikers. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music, while Huma Qureshi is the leading lady. Kartikeya Gummakonda will be seen as the main antagonist. ZEE Studios is the co-producer.
