Bajwa and Sahney back Diljit Dosanjh in citizenship controversy
Diljit Dosanjh is facing heat after a film workers' group (FWICE) called for his Indian citizenship to be revoked, just because he cast Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his movie Sardaar Ji 3.
The twist? The film was shot way back in February—before a series of events that later worsened India-Pakistan tensions.
'Celebrated Indian artiste who has made us proud'
Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa called the move "not only unreasonable but also completely unjustified," saying Diljit is "a celebrated Indian artiste who has made all of us proud on the global stage."
He urged people not to politicize artistic collaborations and stood by Diljit's patriotism.
'Judging intent without facts isn't fair'
Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney pointed out that judging intent without facts isn't fair: "We must not confuse timelines or facts when judging intent."
He also praised Diljit for choosing not to release Sardaar Ji 3 in India out of respect for public sentiment.
