Bhumi Pednekar joins Vicky Kaushal for 'Mr. Lele'
Bhumi Pednekar is on a roll. The actress, who just wrapped up Badhaai Do with Rajkummar Rao, has come on-board for Vicky Kaushal-starrer Mr. Lele. The film, which is being helmed by Shashank Khaitan, also stars Kiara Advani in a pivotal role. Initially, the film was to star Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor but when it didn't work out, a new cast was chosen.
Confirming the development, a source told Pinkvilla, "Bhumi has loved the way her character is written and hence, got back to the film yet again. Vicky too is looking forward to slipping into the comic space with the film. (sic)" "Vicky's character has the Maharashtrian shades to it and whereas the details of Bhumi and Kiara's track has been kept under wraps," the person said.
The film will give Vicky a taste of the comedy genre and reunite him with his Lust Stories team — Advani and filmmaker Karan Johar. The report claimed that both Bhumi and Kiara's characters are strong and have edgy shades. Well, as viewers we are all up for strong female characters. Dharma Productions is expected to make an official announcement soon.
Vicky, who is working on multiple projects like Sardar Udham Singh and The Immortal Ashwatthama, replaced Varun. He was apparently not happy with the script, and was doubtful of the project. However, the makers had released the first poster featuring Varun in 2019. Owing to the pandemic, this much-awaited venture was put on hold and then revamped with a new star cast.
Meanwhile, Bhumi, who was initially a casting director with Yash Raj Films, forayed into acting in 2015 with Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Since then, she has starred in many hit ventures like Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Bala. She was last seen in Durgamati, an OTT release. The 31-year-old recently wrapped up the shoot for Badhaai Do opposite Rajkummar Rao.
