'Dhurandhar 2' tickets hit ₹3,100; shows still selling out
What's the story
Despite being nine days away from its release, Ranveer Singh's much-awaited film Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is already witnessing a massive demand. The advance booking for paid previews on March 18 opened on Saturday morning with the trailer release. Within the first two days, over two lakh tickets were sold in India, with advance sales later crossing ₹19 crore (with block seats).
Pricing strategy
Film's pricing strategy in South India
The film's pricing strategy in South India has been interesting, with tickets going as low as ₹59 in some theaters due to government price control. However, major chains like INOX, Cinepolis, and PVR have launched new premium categories for the paid previews. The highest-priced ticket is ₹3,100 for the Recliner Prime category at INOX Megaplex in Mumbai's Borivali area. Yet, the 10:15pm show has sold out!
Record-breaking potential
'Dhurandhar 2' could break this record
The film (with ₹15.64 crore gross collection) is now inching closer to breaking the record for the biggest Indian premiere held by Sujeeth's Telugu gangster movie They Call Him OG. This film earned ₹25 crore from paid previews alone. Dhurandhar 2 could potentially earn over ₹35 crore from its paid previews by release day, given its current pace and with another 10 days left for ticket sales.
