What's the story

What happens when the world's greatest show about politics meets the most prominent politicians of the world's largest democracy? Comparisons. Game of Thrones is made up of some very interesting characters whose goal is to sit on the Iron Throne and rule the Seven Kingdoms. Some of these characters are quite similar to our own Indian politicians. Here's our take on who resembles whom.

Rahul Gandhi/Sansa

Usually considered naive but can be clever at times

Sansa Stark has taken some really bad decisions in her life and it cost her dearly. She was, however, a child who didn't know any better. With time, she grew up to become a clever ruler. India also has a similar person named Rahul Gandhi. He also made several mistakes when he was younger, but is slowly growing up to be smarter.

Amit Shah/Tywin

Trusted advisors who follow their own code

Tywin Lannister is a wise man. He is stoic and had his own principles that have helped him advise various rulers. He is also fiercely protective of the Lannister name. Back home, we have Amit Shah, the trusted advisor of Narendra Modi, who has helped the PM on numerous occasions. Just like Tywin, he is also protective of his party and aides.

Sonia Gandhi/Daenerys

The 'foreigners' trying to re-establish an old legacy

Daenerys is considered a foreigner in Westeros. She's among the last survivors of the Targaryen dynasty, and aims to re-establish the Targaryen name. Sonia Gandhi has lived in India for quite some time now but is still called a foreigner/outsider. She's also trying her best to establish Congress as the ruling party once again. We hope her 'season 8' is better than Dany's!

Arvind Kejriwal/Stannis

Seeking their own claims to the throne

Stannis Baratheon could have been a good ruler, but we'll never know because sadly, things did not work in his favor. He also changed a lot. Arvind Kejriwal's motivations have also changed with time. He is contending with whatever he has but just like Stannis, faces some insurmountable odds. The general public's confidence in him is dwindling, which is also similar to Stannis' story.

Narendra Modi/Various

Shades of multiple characters: The current Prime Minister

Narendra Modi is a charismatic leader with his own flaws. His speeches are similar to Jon Snow's and his unconventional ruling style is often under scrutiny. He is an able but ruthless strategist like Cersei Lannister and has his own network of informants similar to Varys. He seems honorable, just like Ned Stark but also carries a dubious past similar to Jorah Mormont.
