Maharashtra launches AI training program for journalists

Entertainment

Maharashtra just launched a new AI training program for journalists, aiming to help them blend ethical reporting with the latest tech skills.
Announced in Mumbai by Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Verma, the initiative is a team-up with Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skill University, the Mantralaya and Legislature Reporters Association, and the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR) and focuses on everything from news broadcasting to fact-checking—all through an AI lens.

Training tailored to experience levels

Verma highlighted that journalists need practical, hands-on AI training tailored to their experience levels.
She put it simply: media must adapt to new tech responsibly.
The program's goal is clear—equip reporters with tools to use AI wisely while sticking to core journalistic values and steering clear of misinformation, as highlighted by Apoorva Palkar.
