Marathi actor Gautami Patil not at accident scene, confirms police
Pune Police have confirmed that Marathi lavani artist Gautami Patil wasn't at the scene when her car was involved in a serious accident on September 30.
The crash happened early morning near Wadgaon Bridge and left autorickshaw driver Samaji Margale critically injured.
Even though police say Patil wasn't present, Margale's family is still convinced she was involved and have held protests demanding justice.
Investigation is on
The police have filed a case against Patil's car driver and are looking into all the details.
Maharashtra Higher Education Minister Chandrakant Patil has stepped in after requests from Margale's family, asking for a thorough investigation.
Deputy Commissioner Sambhaji Kadam said the driver's blood sample is being tested for alcohol, and so far, no notice has been sent to Gautami Patil.
To keep things fair, a special officer is handling the case and investigators are checking CCTV footage and talking to witnesses before deciding next steps.
