Netflix series 'Bombay Begums' gets a release date

Netflix's upcoming original series Bombay Begums is all set to release on March 8, 2021. The new series will star Pooja Bhatt, Shahana Goswami, Plabita Borthakur, Amruta Subhash, Aadhya Anand, and others in pivotal roles. Releasing on the International Women's Day, the show will revolve around the lives of five women in modern-day India. Here are more details on this.

    Rise and slay, wrote Bhatt

Revealing the release date of the series, Bhatt tweeted, "Rise & slay! There is nothing stronger than a woman who has rebuilt herself. Do watch #BombayBegums exclusively on #Netflix (sic)." Director Alankrita Shrivastava also took to Twitter and shared the release date of her much-awaited show. Apart from the leading ladies, Rahul Bose, Vivek Gomber, and Danish Husain will also star in the series.

    Here is what Shrivastava tweeted

Zaruri nahi hai ki begum sirf mehal mein rahe, kabhi kabhi woh boardroom rooms mein bhi milti hai. #BombayBegums, only on Netflix!@PoojaB1972 @ShahanaGoswami @AmrutaSubhash #AadhyaAnand @PlabitaB @RahulBose1 @DanHusain @ManishC_Actor @EndemolShineIND #chernin #bornilachatterjee pic.twitter.com/K6hRMFhJ98

'Series explores complex journey of working Indian women'

About the series, Shrivastava said in a statement, "The series explores the complex journey of working Indian women who are ambitious for power and success, but have many other battles to fight too. It's the story of their daily hustle, the story of their dreams - sometimes buried, sometimes fulfilled." She hoped that women across the world would connect with the series.

Shrivastava excited to release the show on Women's Day

Shrivastava, who has worked on several women-centric movies, stated, "I have tried to create a world that reflects the realities of urban working women. I hope audiences relate to the characters and find pieces of their own journey reflected in the story (sic)." "I am excited and proud that Bombay Begums is coming on Netflix on the occasion of International Women's Day," she added.

Other upcoming releases on Netflix in 2021

Bombay Begums has been produced by Endemol Shine India, Endeavor Content and Chernin Entertainment. Apart from this show, Netflix is also gearing up for the release of Parineeti Chopra-starrer thriller The Girl On The Train, which will be out on February 26. Further, Telugu anthology film Pitta Kathalu will premiere on the streamer on February 19.
